OOC: Me write foofy bad. Also, don't even know if there is a west lawn. *shrug* Hope you like it, Jen.

Cassie yawned as she made her way down the hall to Kurt's room. She had finished her paper -- well, okay *almost* finished her paper -- and needed a break. "Come in," she heard a few seconds after she knocked on the heavy wooden door. "Hey, Kurt," she greeted, stepping into the room.

The fuzzy elf, as he was known to many of the students, was perched at the foot of his bed, reading a comic book. He looked up long enough to smile at her then returned to his reading.

"Hey. That any way to treat a girl?" she teased.

He flashed a mischievous grin and pushed himself off the bed, landing gracefully on the floor. "Many apologies, Liebling." He crawled towards her, tail twitching in the air, preparing to strike.

"What're you--" Cassie didn't have time to complete the thought as Kurt became a blur of movement. He grabbed her around the waist, lifting her up. "Kurt, put me down!" she squealed. "I mean it, Mr. Wagner," she hissed.

"You're no fun," he pouted, dumping her on his bed. She stuck her tongue out at him. He smirked and gave her a quick kiss. "Dinner, tonight? I know a great spot on the west lawn."

Cassandrea shook her head. "No esta noche." Not tonight. "I told Sarah I'd save her a seat." She sat up, tucking a lock of indigo hair behind her ear. "But I haven't had lunch yet. You wanna take a trip down to the kitchen?"

"It would be my pleasure." He extended his hand and helped her to her feet.

"Not bad." Logan grunted tossing Sarah a bottle of water. Logan rubbed his shoulder. She’d knocked out all the lights, masked her scent with his own shirt and come out of nowhere with a piece of pipe. Logan growled lightly. It wasn’t like him to let a student get the jump on him. Sarah was far more dangerous than her tiny form would suggest.

Sarah smiled at the faint praise. The shirt allowed her hunt him, instead of the other way around. And it had worked too. For a while...

"I’m gonna put you in the advanced class with the older kids."

"When is that?" Please say tomorrow...please say tomorrow... Sarah prayed; trying not to jostle the ribs he’d broken with that last tackle. They hurt like hell.

Logan’s sensitive hearing picked up the pain in her voice. "I didn’t mean to hit you so hard. Are you okay?"

"I’ll heal," Sarah replied wincing a bit.

"Class is at 3. But you can start tomorrow."

Oh yes... there is a God. "Very well, sir. Is that all, sir?"

"Yeah..." Logan squirmed. "No."

"Sir?"

Everything about this thing with Sarah and Max made him uncomfortable. He didn’t want to know, but he was serious about kicking Max’s ass if he hurt her. "...Last night...?"

A little late to be worried about that, Sarah thought, but she stuffed that thought down deep. Being angry wasn’t going to change things. At least she knew where she stood. "I’m fine."

Logan wasn’t stupid. He’d heard Marie use ‘fine’ in that tone and knew it meant she was anything but. "Did he hurt you?"

"No, sir. Max didn’t - wouldn’t- hurt me."

"Good." Well sort of. She was still angry. "What is the problem?"

"I don’t have a problem, sir."

Logan tapped the side of his nose. "You may not have much of a scent, but it’s still there. You’re angry and I’d like to know why."

"If you don’t know, sir, it isn’t important."

Logan growled. Women must be born with a collection of those crap non-answers. "Is this about last night?" Logan asked, trying to keep his voice level. Sarah’s glare answered as clearly as any words could have. "Max was dying."

"I know that, sir."

"Didn’t we talk about the ‘sir’ thing?"

"Yes, sir, we did."

Logan cocked an eyebrow. "And?"

"And calling you Logan makes it sound as if we’re friends, sir, and we’re not."

Logan ran a hand through his hair and exhaled sharply. "We can be."

"No sir, I don’t think we can."

"Why not?"

"You’re supposed to look out for me too. And you didn’t. You treated me like a common whore."

"Whore! What the hell? You wanted to. Hell - I stopped the two of you twice myself. What the hell are you upset about?"

"You took the choice away from me, sir, when you tossed me in that room and damaged the lock. I don’t think I can forgive you for that."

OOC: Watching too much Angel. Cassie's pulling a Fred. I wussed out on the smoochie scene.

"Hey, watch it!" she scowled.

"Sorry, Rogue," Cassie grinned, catching the loaf of bread Kurt chucked at her from across the kitchen.

"Hold it!" Rogue jumped to her feet just as Kurt was about to throw a packet of deli meat. Almost getting hit in the head by the mayonnaise jar was the last straw. "I'm getting out of the way of the flyin' food cirus. See ya later, Cass," the retreating mutant smirked.

"I knew that would get her out of here," Cassie chuckled once Rogue had left the kitchen.

Kurt walked over to the counter with a roll of plastic wrap. "Why didn't you just ask her to..."

"Leave? 'Cause sometimes it's more fun to annoy her," Cassie winked. "She knows we're just joking around. It's cool."

They finished making their sandwiches, grabbed a couple of sodas and headed out the patio door. Kurt still wanted to take Cassandrea to the spot on the west lawn he had mentioned earlier. Now was as good a time as any. It was a circular clearing among the brush, tucked in a secluded corner of the estate.

"This is nice," Cassie beamed. It was mid-day and from where they were they could see the other students on the lawn, playing their games and just hanging out. In this spot they were seperated, yet still part of the group. "It's quiet. I like it."

They exchanged smiles they laid a blanket on the ground and Kurt handed her a sandwhich before sitting down next to her. "So is Sarah all right? Not in any trouble with Herr Logan?"

Cassie furrowed her brow, picking at her lunch. "I don't know. She didn't really say much about it. I'm thinking about talking to Mr. Logan." /Probably not the brightest idea, but Sarah's had enough problems without the Wolverine getting all up in her face,/ Cassie thought.

Kurt swallowed hard. Being Max's friend also meant that he had extra time around Logan. He wasn't such a bad guy -- once you got past the bad attitude. Of course getting *past* the bad attitude was the problem. "Do you think that is such a good idea?"

"Yes. No." She shook her head. "I don't know. You know me, I'm a big chicken. I probably won't do it." Even the thought of confronting him was scaring her. "It's probably none of my business anyway. Sarah... well, I don't want to mess anything up for her. Madre de dios, why am I so protective of her? I can't not be. She just seems like she could use a good friend right now."

/She's cute when she rambles,/ Kurt thought with a grin. /Of course, she's starting to freak out over this whole Logan thing. Maybe I shouldn't have told her./ "Cassie, calm down. I'm sure everything will be fine. Let Sarah work it out herself."

"Yeah, you're right. I mean, if she needs help, she'll ask for it, right? She survived the Brotherhood thing, she can survive a little 'disagreement' with Logan."

"Cassie."

"Hell, she and Rogue are probably the only ones who can."

"Cassandrea."

"And it's none of my business. Did I say that already? I--" Kurt silenced her with a kiss. Cassie resisted for an instant, still trying to finish her sentence, but was quickly swept into the moment.

She tangled her fingers in his hair; he pulled her closer. She could have stayed like that with him forever, but it was broad daylight and that nagging bit of decency in her head forced her to pull away. "You gonna do that every time you want me to shut up?"

"Probably," he smirked with a lusty look in his eyes.

"I can live with that."

OOC: Me writing Bobby like the doofus he is. Life is good.

After breakfast I felt like a million dollars. It was just the thing I needed to feel back to normal. I was a bit worried as I said bye to Sarah... she seemed, I dunno, a little dark. She assured me it wasn't me and I trusted her in that. Rightly or wrongly, I guess I'd find out.

Logan and Sarah were busy in the Danger Room that day, and for once I wasn't hanging out with Kurt. The other guys saw this as a token opportunity to drag me into a game of basketball. Sometimes, being in an overly friendly school of mutants was a pain.

"Come on!" Bobby said, shoving a ball in my hands and marching me onto the bitumen court. "It's been ages since you've hung with the rest of us."

Gee, I thought, I wonder why. It's not like I didn't like hanging out with them it's just... the cat thing made life embarrassing.

Well, after I got my head out of my ass, the basketball was kinda fun. After a while it was just me and Bobby playing, the rest of the guys off to find some food. I wasn't hungry just yet, and neither was Icedude.

"So... Sarah huh?"

I rolled my eyes and took a shot at the hoop. "You just had to ask, didn't you?"

"You know me," Bobby said, grabbing the ball and taking aim. "The eternal romantic..." He grunted as he lobbed the ball at the ring. Badoing... hit the edge and flew at me. I caught it and snorted.

"Well, there's less romance here than you'd probably like..."

"Yeah I heard."

I glared at Bobby and he shrugged like it didn't matter.

"I have long ears."

I bit my tongue. There was soooo too much I could say to that one. I dribbled the ball a moment, then took another shot. "Why the hell do you care anyway?"

He shrugged. "You're one of us. One of the family." Grab ball, lob. "I care."

I smirked and sighed. "Yeah, one of the X. One big happy family in the eyes of Cyclops' Second."

One of Bobby's pet names. We all knew that Bobby was shaping up to be one of the main X-Men, and I was secretly surprised Cyke hadn't adopted the kid and named him his heir yet.

"Is there a problem, Max?"

I sighed. "No. No not really. It's just... everyone goes on about this place like it's a Utopia. I just wish people would admit that it has it's problems just like any place else."

Bobby stared at me a long moment, the basketball in his hands. "Is this about what happened with you and Sarah?"

I shrugged. "Part of it I guess."

"Things turned out okay for you," he said, dribbling the ball.

"Not really," I replied. "I would have preferred to have waited."

Bobby shrugged and took a shot. "I lost my virginity at sixteen, dude. First time doesn't matter. It's why you do it that does."

I shook my head, taking the ball. "It matters to me."

Bobby smiled. "Perhaps you're more of a romantic than I am, eh?" He grabbed the ball from me and lobbed the ball home. Taking the ball I scowled at him.

"I don't think so."

The blonde chuckled. "Nice try, dude. The rough Logan act doesn't fool everybody."

With a dark growl I bounced the ball off of his forehead. He stopped, blinked, then burst into laughter.

"You're a riot, Max." Bobby looked to his watch and tutted. "Well, I gotta bail. Johnny is expecting me at the gym. Don't be a stranger now." He slapped my arm, and just as he began to run off, his leg whipped out and knocked mine from under my feet.

I fell over, hearing the guy run off with a nattering laugh. I groaned, laying there and gazing at the oh so blue sky. I figured that was his bizarre way of flirting or something. The guy was a space-cake and a half.

Sarah walked off, leaving Logan standing in the Danger Room. Either he understood how much of a ...an ass he’d been, or I’d be dealing with both him and The Professor later for my ‘rude’ behavior. Like what he did wasn’t rude.

In no mood for company, Sarah bypassed the occupied sauna and headed outside, hoping to find a sunny secluded spot to sun in. Skirting the playing fields, Sarah grinned and thanked god, and the General’s intolerance, for allowing her to come to a place where she could actually have an afternoon all to herself. She’d missed that kind of freedom and, as she kicked off her shoes and socks, she vowed that she was going to make the most of the unseasonably warm afternoon.

Settling down in the warm grass, Sarah succumbed to her desire to just roll around in the grass, feeling the soft shafts tickle her feet and let the damp, earthy scents soak into her skin. She didn’t care that she was getting dirty or that if anyone saw her, they’d surely think she’d lost her mind. She loved rolling around in the grass. Always had. Her mother used to tut and roll her eyes when she’d come in from playing with her brothers covered in dirt (and generally with a cut or bruise or two). But, as her mother cleaned her up and bandaged her wounds, Sarah always caught the slight smile, knowing that her mother’s dire promises of buying Sarah a baby doll and a dress on her next trip to the PX would not come to pass. And it hadn’t. But blue jeans, baseball mitts, and toy guns were never in short supply.

Sarah rolled over on her stomach and, dissecting a blade of grass, her thoughts turned to Max. Waking in his arms had been... wonderful. Safe. Secure. It was the first time in forever that she’d been genuinely happy. /For a few minutes, I could pretend that it was real. That he did love me and I loved him and that it hadn’t had anything to do with weird body chemistry and staving off death for another day./

Another dead and well-shredded piece of vegetation hit the dirt.

/And then I saw Logan, happily eating his eggs and my fantasy was blown to bits. Last night wasn’t what Max wanted. Wasn’t what he wanted at all. I wasn’t what Max wanted. I was what he was stuck with because of an accident of mutation and biochemistry,/she thought, savagely tearing apart another helpless piece of grass.

"Miss Munroe is going to have your head if you keep destroying her lawn."

OOC: Are ya happy now?

"Nice and slow. You can do this, Drea."

"Easy for you to say," she hissed. Taking a deep breath, Cassandrea surged forward. /I hope this doesn't hurt./

Left. Right. Bob. Weave. Somersaulting, she shifted into her liquid form as three large, spiked, metallic orbs whizzed by. One of them grazed her, but slipped easily enough through the liquid. Cassie landed in a crouch, black eyes surveying the area. Several more orbs appeared, this time sporting laser beams. "Hello, I'm made of water," she scoffed as the beams had no effect on her. She made short work of the pests by tossing a few globules of water their way.

"I hate this part," she muttered as panels began to slide out from the walls.

Five sets of panels, four feet between each set, running floor to ceiling. There was an eight inch opening between each adjacent panel which Cassie had to wind her way through. The effect was something similar to a maze.

"Concentrate. Remember what we talked about," the voice in the control room said.

Another deep breath and she was off. A lot of concentration was needed for this contortionist act, even if she was in her liquid form. She passed through the first opening with no problem. She flowed left, then a sharp right. Right, then left. Left, right. /No problem,/ she smiled a little too soon. She missed the opening for the last set and splattered herself against a cold, hard wall.

The Danger Room melted around her, reverting to its original cubical shape. "Ow." Cassie re-formed herself and ran a hand through her long hair. /At least I made it most of the way through this time,/ she thought, still sitting on the floor.

Kurt, who had been watching from the control room, teleported in and offered Cassie a hand up. "Are you all right?"

"Just peachy," she grimaced. "I've run this sim a dozen times. I either make it through too slow, or I rush and don't make it at all. You'd think I'd get it right eventually."

"Do not be so hard on yourself, child," Ororo said, entering the Danger Room. "Your timing has improved and you nearly completed the run."

"Yeah, but I still ended up in a pool of... well, me. And, by the way, that *does* actually hurt."

Kurt rubbed the small of her back sympathetically. "If it makes you feel any better, Cass, it's my turn to run the maze. Just another X-rat," Kurt joked.

"Doesn't, but I'm still gonna watch," she smirked, mussing his hair.

OOC: The saga of Max and Sarah continues...

"Miss Munroe is going to have your head if you keep destroying her lawn."

I'd been watching her lay on the ground a moment, looking unbearably cute ripping at the grass. I really liked her hair... short, and yet on her the boyish cut just looked pixie-like. She looked like she should have had wings and a flimsy little dress on. Mmmm.... flimsy little dress.

She was just staring at me now, and I'd momentarily forgot that I'd spoken to her to alert her to my presence.

"She'll probably have to wait in line."

I frowned, kneeling down next to her. "You okay?" I ventured a hand to her cheek, stroking it gently with the back of my knuckle.

"I'd just like to go for one day without anyone yelling at me. Is that too much to ask?"

I sank down onto the ground, wrapping an arm around her and sighing. "No. You wanna tell me what happened?"

"Not really."

I pursed my lips, trying not to get offended. I knew she liked to keep things to herself but... I was worried about her. I leant my chin on a propped hand and curled my bottom lip thoughtfully. "Has it got anything to do with what Logan did?"

"Didn't I just say I didn't want to talk about it?"

Ow. I took my arm back, moving away from her. "Sorry, I was just worried about you, but if you don't wanna talk that's okay."

"Max wait." Sarah climbed to her knees and put a restraining hand on my arm. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to be such a bitch."

I sighed, turning and plomping back down on the grass again. I felt really stupid... I guess I'd been suffocating her. I had a bad habit of being overly affectionate to those I chose to like. I couldn't help it - it was just in my nature. The last thing she needed was me playing 20 questions on her private life. I didn't put my arm around her, just dragged a claw through the grass. "Don't worry about it... guess I'm prying."

"No - I...I shouldn't take it out on you." Sarah drew in a deep breath. "Yeah, it's about what Logan did."

Huhm. I lifted a lip, self-doubt probably all over my face. "You... you didn't like him forcing you into it did you?" I sighed, blushing, "I told you, you didn't have to do it if you didn't want to."

"I know. And I did want to. I - I would've come back on my own," she smily wanly. "Once I'd cooled off."

I nodded, watching my fingers play in the grass. My voice was quiet, wrought with nerves I that didn't really belong in this situation but were there anyways. "Then... what's wrong?"

She looked to me, blue eyes large. "He didn't know that."

It dawned on me then, and I nodded slowly. "I get it..."

She sighed, nodding back at me.

"Sarah... Logan wouldn't do anything to hurt you, you know that right?"

Sarah instantly became entranced with shredding Ms. Munroe's perfectly manicured lawn once again. I sighed, taking her hands.

"Sarah?"

"No, Max, I don't know that. And you know what," she said, wrenching her hands from mine, "You don't know that, either."

I don't know why this made me angry, but it did. I wasn't sure what I was angry at - my own assumptions, Sarah's reaction, I don't know. I rolled over, crossing my arms and surpressing a growl.

"You don't know Logan like I do," I said. "He's a good guy, and he wouldn't do what you're insinuating." I shrugged. "I do know, Sarah, I know that he does a lot for other people and he is prepared to do a lot for you as well, cause he's taken you on as his pupil, and unlike Cyke, that means a lot to Logan."

"Maybe, but if it comes down to it, you'll always come first," Sarah whispered, staring at the grass.

I turned her face towards mine, meeting her eyes with a little smile. "That's why he risked his ass for you at Magneto's joint without Xavier's okay, and let me tag along too. If he valued me above you, I wouldn't have been there. I'm not sayin' he loves you to death, I mean give the guy a chance, he only just met ya." I took my hand away and nudged her shoulder with mine. "But you can depend on him cause once he's there for you he's there for you for good. If there were even the *slightest* whiff of hesitation on you yesterday, he wouldn't have locked you in there."

Sarah smirked a bit. "Note to self - Kicking, biting and cursing at Logan won't work. Must use smell."

A cough burst from me and I blushed, "You didn't want to have sex with me that much?"

"I was a little pissed off, ya know. I mean I showed up -in a dress no less- and you turned me down. Doesn't do much for a girl's ego."

I shrugged, "Yeah well, my ego wasn't much better off. How do you think I felt with the teaching staff practically telling you to fuck me or I'd die?" I paused, then looked to her. "You looked hot in the dress, by the way."

"I think the whole staff did talk to me. Or," Sarah said blushing, "At least dropped by my room with condoms. And um thanks," Sarah stammered, "About the dress. I just hope you aren't expecting another one."

I sensed she wasn't much of a dress girl, but it didn't matter. I leant my chin on her shoulder and sighed. "All I want is for you to be happy. Dress or no dress."

"How happy?" Sarah asked, drawing a hand down my jaw.

The look she gave me had my heart jumping into frantic beats, and my breath was ragged as I replied a meek, "Urm... huh..." My skin tingled where she'd touched me. God she drove me wild. "You're really about to find out how happy you know..." I gulped helplessly.

Sarah traced the ridge of my ear with her tongue. "Promise?" she whispered, nipping lightly.

I dunno what came over me. I lunged for her neck, rolling her over onto her back and letting the very tips of my teeth graze her skin harmlessly. One hand cradled her ribs as my tongue slid over the pulse in her neck. Realising what I was doing, where I was doing it, I pulled back, blushing. "Sorry!"

"What for?" she asked, her eyes slighly glazed.

I shrugged, a little breathless. "I - I lost control," I frowned, stroking her cheek. "I can't do that, I might hurt you."

"I'm not a fragile little doll, Max. You don't have to be so careful."

I nodded. "Yeah but... it's a part of being human, Sarah... to try and keep a grip on my animal side." She started to look a little disappointed, but I added. "It doesn't mean I can't... I can't do the little animalistic things that make me who I am, it just means I get to decide when I get to use 'em." I leant down to her neck again, dragging the tips of my ironicly named canines over the curve of her neck, letting my purring growl rattle through my skin into hers.

Sarah trembled as his purr rumbled through her. Gripping his arms, she arched her neck, exposing herself to him further, releasing a low whimper of frustration as he held his teeth just above her skin.

I drifted my lips over her flesh, frowning a little. "What?"

"God, Max, I didn't take you for a tease."

I blushed at that. I gave an uncomfortable huff as I looked into her eyes. "If... if I do anything more I might get carried away."

"So? I'll stop you if you go too far," she said, fingers playing against my singlet.

I frowned. "What if you can't?"

Sarah blinked. That thought had obviously not occured to her.

"I couldn't stand it if I hurt you like that."

Sarah's eyes softened and her hand drifted up, to trace his lips. "I didn't know you were that worried about it." She drew her hand away slowly. "This is going to be hard, isn't it?"

I shook my head. "No. It's something I had to deal with before you were here, Sarah. It's all a part of my mutation. I'm not completely human anymore... I gotta deal with different things than everyone else."

Her eyes softened, and she cradled my face. "I'm not human either, Max. I'm just not afraid of what I am."

I tilted my brows up. "Are you sure you wanna let my... you know... animal loose?"

"I wouldn't have it any other way," she purred, sliding closer.

I let my lips meet hers again, and I eased them open with my tongue, letting it dip in and run along hers. She gave a soft little breathy moan sound, and my hand slid down her torso, gripping her thigh, the claws curving into it just slightly. Her hands sank into my hair, but I think she still felt my restraint... maybe if she thought I was being the animal... maybe if I just pretended... I didn't want to hurt her... never want to hurt her.

"Play, or don't play, Max, but don't lie to me," she whispered in his ear. "I can taste the difference."

The fear broke when she said that. Her hands drifted down... the way they touched me, the way they shifted under my singlet and ran through the fur at my chest... A low growl shuddered through me, no thoughts... blue eyes... Mine grew hooded, hungry, the hand at her thigh grew tighter. She leant up, running her lips over my neck, biting the flesh there, teeth skimming over skin. Her hand drifted up, fingertips feathered over my nipple.

The growl jumped up in my chest, grew louder, I dropped my head to her neck and took a mouthful of flesh. Something in me snapped. I grabbed her, held her still, my skin was burning, I was burning. Her eyes widened, and my teeth dug into her skin. I pushed her down, something in me needed to dominate her. I bit, hard, really really hard.

Blood pooled about my teeth ... it hit my tongue.

I let out a cry, and jumped back. Holy shit I broke her skin... I turned, and ran. Ran like the fuck into the woods. God... oh God... I was a freakin' animal!! It's where I belonged.

I lay in the grass, too stunned to move. I could feel my blood sliding down my neck and I put my hand up to the wound. It was closed already, but when I pulled my hand back, the deep red blood glistened in the late afternoon sun.

He’d done what he was afraid of doing. Because I pushed. First last night and now this. I had to fix it and I could only think of one way.

I entered the mansion quietly. I could hear the sounds of dinner in full swing and was exceedingly glad that meant I’d have some privacy for what I had to do. I washed up, scrubbing my blood from my skin, watching as the pink water swirled in the sink.

/I just wanted... I didn’t mean.../ "Snap out of it," I growled at my reflection in the mirror, snapping the taps closed, "You don’t have time for this."

I slipped the note under Max’s door and hitched my sea-bag higher on my shoulder. It was better this way. I can’t stand to hurt him anymore.

Without looking back, I headed out the service door and down the long drive. The train station wasn’t far. Maybe my brother will take me in.

OOC: You ask and I deliver. Sort of.

Kurt limped up the steps, leaning on Cassie for support. If she hadn't insisted on helping him, he would have just teleported. But, hey, why pass up the chance to be that close to a pretty girl, he thought to himself. He stumbled on an invisible wrinkle in the carpet and Cassie caught him, placing a hand on his chest.

"You know, Kurt," Cassandrea said with a smirk, "you really need to learn how to avoid those practice droids." Her fuzzy elf had caught two of them in the gut during the practice and was thrown against a wall - all at twenty feet in the air.

"Ach, Leibling, you wound me. Well, wound me more," he chuckled as they stopped in front of Max's door.

"Oh, boo hoo," she mocked, knocking on the paneled wood. "Maybe I should talk Miss Munroe into letting me team up with you. Ya know, so you don't hurt yourself anymore." She knocked again. "Hmm. Guess he's not home," she frowned. They had both wanted to see how Max was doing after... well, after.

Kurt reached over and turned the brass knob. Finding it unlocked, he pushed the door open. "Max? Are you in here?" He hobbled into the room. "Max?"

Cassie bent over to pick up a folded piece of paper. "Hey, someone left something under the door."

"Who's it from?"

She held the paper out to him. "I dunno." Kurt gave her a quizzical look. "Well, *I'm* not gonna read it. It's not for me."

He smiled, beginning to read the note. His face fell quickly. "This is bad."

Cassie furrowed her brow. "What? What is it?" She peered over his shoulder, reading Sarah's note to Max. "Oh, gods. We need to find Sarah. *Now.*"
