Evolution
The Artistic Allusion was started long ago, but never completed. It's been moved from AOL's servers to Geocities and now to a paid host. Greener pastures. The original incarnation only had a few CG images and scans of my gargoyle drawings. The second, in-process attempt was to display computer art coursework as well. This version will archive pretty much everything I have ever drawn, manipulated, rendered, and written. That's the idea, anyway. I hope that both the design and content of this archive will change at a steadier pace than my other sites.
Inspiration
Much of my artwork stems from my involvement in various fandoms. This is especially true in any of the graphic manipulations I do and the stories I write. I'm currently active in the Buffy/Angel and X-Men fandoms, starting to get more involved with Farscape and looking to dip into the Witchblade pool.
Music is a huge influence on my poetry, which is often more dark than anything. Current faves are Curve, VAST, Vertical Horizon, Mandy Moore (shut your mouth), and Paul Okenfold. Eternal favorites include Sarah McLachlan, Duncan Sheik, Sting, and U2.
The poem that makes up the portfolio page is one of my own, but strewn through the site are parts of poems by William Blake, William Butler Yates, and Henry David Thoreau. You can read those poems here.
Appreciation
Many thanks to the art teachers/professors (epecially Mrs. Curtis and Mrs. Jackett) I have had over the years. There were definitly times I hated class (there still are), but the pain was worth it in the end, I think.
Arline, my bestest pal, you are the coolest. Okay, there was that whole thing where you weren't in half of my classes 'cause you're smarter than me ^_~ I'm really glad we survived high school together. You always made me try harder because.. well, because you were always a better artist than me! LOL
Sez, my brain-twin, you don't realize it or maybe you do, but you provide me with much needed company late at night when I'm trying to get work done. Gotta love that 14 hour time difference.
Finally, loads to thanks to everyone who's looked at my work and either praised it or criticised it. Honest opinions mean the world.
