Date Completed: 5 september 2000
Author: Amezri
Distribution: Artistic Allusion, WRFA, all others just ask me. If you actually want it, how can I say no?
Disclaimer: None, really.
Author's Notes: This poem was, once again, not inspired by Logan & Rogue, but the fandom kinda assimilated it.. and me. My very first public post. I thanks to all the lovely people of the WolverineAndRogue mailing list, especially darkstar for giving me the courage to post.

I see you waiting
Watch you standing
Frail as solid steel
Gentle as hurricane winds
Harlequin eyes laughingly sparkle
Razor wit at every turn
I brave a closer step
You flash a promising smile
Freezing my fluttering heart.
I continue with a sharp breath
Doe steps on the pavement
Once more into the depths
Trying to find your true self
But you ghost and fade
Leaving me to face a joyless void
An empty lonely being
I walk on.
My, but this poem has some juicy Logan-description! And quite a bit of angst too!! What more could I ask for ? (other than Logan in a....oh, wait, I don't want to say that out loud. ::evil grin::)
I felt this from Marie's point of view, as she is watching Logan or perhaps thinking of him after he's left. The tone of fascination is sustained quite nicely, as are some lovely descriptions. Here are my favorites :
Frail as solid steel
Gentle as hurricane winds
Harlequin eyes laughingly sparkle
Razor wit at every turn
This is an awesome description of Logan. I love it. Love it. The contrasts are perfectly in line with his nature.
You flash a promising smile
Freezing my fluttering heart.
I just had to say that this gave me a lovely memory of his smile. And yes, you're right, it does freeze a fluttering heart. ::glances down at the icicles on her chest::. I need to see the movie again. I'll just come right out and say it.
Doe steps on the pavement
Once more into the depths
Trying to find your true self
This was another favorite part of mine. I like the description of "doe steps". Things have to be taken slow and carefully. It's hard to find his "true self" amid his darkness and facades.
But you ghost and fade
Leaving me to face a joyless void
An empty lonely being
I walk on.
The ending is so sad, hence mega-angsty, hence very powerful and well done. Thank you for such a lovely bit of mind-candy. Even if it was more of a tear-jerker than a peppermint.
